Our Story
Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and Planting Joy in all we do —one garden, one season, and one customer at a time.
Fernwood began in 1992 as a greenhouse operated by our founders, James and Connie Everett. Soon we supplied chain stores, independent retailers, and nurseries. Four years later we opened a seasonal open-air market in Columbia, TN, offering a wide variety of seasonal annuals and hanging baskets. As we opened our permanent location on James Campbell Blvd., we quickly expanded to carrying perennials, shrubs, trees, bulk mulch, soil, and stone, concrete statuary and fountains.
Every season is a new adventure at Fernwood. As spring blooms and summer blossoms, we provide a tremendous selection of blooming annuals, ornamental grasses, aquatic plants, and ornamental trees… Fall is marked by truck loads of pumpkins, gourds, and cornstalks… As fall turns to winter and the Holiday season approaches, the air at the garden center fairly buzzes with the making of wreaths, garlands, and roping from fresh greenery. The smell of Christmas trees fills the air and bright poinsettias abound.
We are more than just a garden center. Our team is dedicated to serving and blessing our city, our state, and our country; not only by providing excellent service and beautiful products, but through the sponsorship of scout troops, athletic groups, and school clubs and bands.
